Star of David

The Star of David

I will make the descendants of David my servant
and the Levites who minister before me
as countless as the stars in the sky
and as measureless as the sand on the seashore
Jeremiah 33:22 NIV

Background

Here are some background explanations of the Star of David:

Scripture

The Star of David serves as a reminder of God's promise:

[19] The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: [20] “This is what the Lord says:
'If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time, [21] then my covenant with David my servant---and my covenant with the Levites who are priests ministering before me---can be broken and David will no longer have a descendant to reign on his throne. [22] I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless as the stars in the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.'” (Jeremiah 33:19-22 NIV)

At a time when the nations of the world are trying to force the Holy Land into being a two-nation state with Palestine, Jer. 33:19-22 brings the reminder that Israel is not a state but a Kingdom whose priests - the Priesthood of Zion - are servants of its Great King:

2 Having journeyed from Rephidim, they entered the wilderness of Sinai and encamped in the wilderness. Israel encamped there in front of the mountain, 3 and Moses went up to God.
The LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus shall you say to the house of Jacob and declare to the children of Israel: 4 'You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Me. 5 Now then, if you will obey Me faithfully and keep My covenant, you shall be My treasured possession among all the peoples. Indeed, all the earth is Mine, 6 but you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words that you shall speak to the children of Israel.” (Exodus 19:2-6 (Tanakh))

14 A curse on the cheat who has an [unblemished] male in his flock, but for his vow sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord! For I am a great King — said the LORD of Hosts — and My name is revered among the nations. (Malachi 1:14 (Tanakh))

Currently, the House of Desolation do not serve that Great King; having rejected their Messiah, they fight a losing battle in their own strength, preferring to rely on that 'splintered reed of a staff' the US (cf, Is. 36:6 T). Nevertheless, when David's Fallen Tent is rebuilt, then the Most High will dwell once again with His People, having His Home in Zion at both the Physical and Spiritual Levels. Israel shall be a holy nation set aside to serve their Great King! And as a result, in the Last Days:

The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. (Micah 4:1-2 NIV)
